Fun Fact Friday

Here’s a fun piece of trivia: Most locks on doors or gates in Costa Rica work (turn) backwards from how they do in the US. Also, although doors in the US push out from the inside to avoid fire hazards, in Costa Rica most doors to commercial establishments such as stores or restaurants open inward (from the street) instead of out.  So on a trip to Costa Rica you may wanna kick that habit of pulling on handles to get in and pushing to get out, otherwise you may end up looking a bit silly and stuck on the wrong side of the door!

    • To our knowledge, not really. Perhaps because it is easier for the consumer to get in? Also because of the favorable climate, a lot of commercial establishments keep their doors open. I suppose that it is easier to do this if they open in. Thanks for the question!
